Sewall''s Point History involves all of the St. Lucie River Region. Please click here and explore!
After my children grew up and left home in the late 1980s, I turned my attention to collecting and sharing regional history and I’ve been at it ever since. My husband, Tom Thurlow Jr. and his father before him, both lawyers specializing in real estate transactions, supplied a wealth of resource material: old maps, plats, documents, sales brochures, and abstracts of title. When I asked members of pioneer families to let me make copies of their old photographs, I returned them promptly and gave them credit. We purchased every old book that mentioned the Indian River and the St. Lucie and River Region, and collected antique postcards . We purchased the negative collection of early photographer Arthur Ruhnke and were given the negatives of another early photographer Earl Dyer Ricou. My books contain the best of what we collected.
